Google Chromecast: Any good?
|
For example, streaming a live match from my laptop to the TV?
Thanks all

You set it up once which takes a couple of minutes, then it's done.. And you can control it from anywhere, not just within cable length and can use any device that supports it, including phones. Plus you can have sound coming from your PC and TV independently rather than all out of the TV.

IMO its just a more complicated way of using a HDMI cable, you have to set up the wifi etc when with the cable it's plug in and go

I bought this and set it up, only for it to disappear from my wifi options and never appear again.

Easy to use and cheap to buy, its like a plug into the mains USB, it then finds your Wifi and as long as you have the app on your phone or PC, away you go
Picture Quality is good for most casts, some though are not as good particularly older stuff but that’s maybe down to the quality of the day rather than Chromecast, sound quality A1

Mine does. Before I got the chrome cast I used to use the TV as a 2nd monitor and the sound only came from it.

You download some software from the chrome website that integrates with the browser. When you are in chrome, you have a little symbol to click on to cast the tab. If you are in a page that chromecast has an app for like youtube, it recognises it and the app starts up on the dongle and streams directly but you use the youtube player on chrome to control whats on tv.

FC - yes, I suspect in Windows you have to change your audio output device once it's plugged in

Its a fancy way of not using a HDMI cable.
We ditched ours moths ago. Pointless gimmickry.
